In the early 20th century, a time where polio epidemics plagued industrial countries, nurse Elizabeth Kenny did not use the traditional treatment method of keeping patients' limbs immobilized. She came up with a new method, the Kenny method, which involved light exercises, heat packs, and movement. She faced many obstacles in spreading her ideas, for example her lack of formal education, and skepticism among others, but she was a passionate pioneer who would not stop until she crossed the frontier: the frontier of knowledge. With this, she revolutionized the approach to its treatment, and paved the path for modern physical therapy.
